Working together for the animals is very important here at Mossburn and we rely hugely on volunteers to extend our small team.
OUR TEAM
Juanita Wilson MBE
Mossburn Community Farm
Founder & Manager
Beginning with horses, Juanita has decades of experience caring for and ensuring the welfare of animals.
She "accidentally" founded Mossburn in 1990 and has been overseeing the running of the charity ever since.
Juanita is driven by an overwhelming passion to ensure that the animals at Mossburn are treated with the care, compassion and dignity they deserve.
She was awarded an MBE in 2017 for services to vulnerable children, adults and animals in Dumfries & Galloway.
Siobhan Webster
Yard Manager
Siobhan is responsible for the day to day running of the farm and ensuring that our animals are looked after to the highest possible standard.
Siobhan first started as a volunteer in 2003 and has only taken breaks to pursue her education. She achieved a Class 1 Honours Degree in Zoology at the University of Dundee and a Masters Degree in Primate Conservation at Oxford Brookes University.
Lynne Mclean
Yard Worker
Lynne has been a Yard Worker here since 2020 when she moved back to Scotland from Ireland where she had been working at a large horse rescue charity. She brought her rescue horse Alexander over with her as well as her three rescue dogs. Visitors will often be greeted by William who is a very friendly little dog.
Asham Rostron
Animal Assisted Therapist
Asha is our Animal Assisted Therapist at Mossburn. She holds a BSc (Hons) in 'Psychology with Counselling', an MSc in 'Studies in Mindfulness', an Animal Assisted Therapy diploma and is a BAMBA registered Mindfulness teacher. Asha has found her dream job here at Mossburn, allowing her to combine her love for animals and her gift of helping people overcome any challenges they may be facing. We are extremely lucky to have Asha on board as an integral part of our Animal Assisted Therapy team.
Lydia Mead
Animal Assisted Therapy Team
Programme Activities Coordinator
Lydia is part of our Animal Assisted Therapy team. She currently runs multiple groups each week for children and young people with additional needs to develop their life skills, employability skills and social skills through caring for and interacting with our animals and each other.
