Mossburn has just benefited hugely from two young ladies who, through our web site, asked if they could volunteer their services to gain experience of working in an animal refuge that incorporated a human help element. The first of these was Mary from Maryland Washington DC who worked both outside with the animals and inside on the computer which was where her main area of experience lay.

The second lady is Alex who comes from Switzerland and will be with us for a total of two months. Alex works with young people in her home country and has had an opportunity during her time here to witness first hand how the Mossburn experience can benefit young people who have difficulty coping in the world at large. She has also experienced first hand the joys of feeding and mucking out while the rain beat down driven by ferocious winds!

We have been so pleased to have this input from both of our foreign visitors and it has made us realise that there are probably more people out there who could volunteer some time to us. Basically Mossburn is staffed by three people, one paid and two volunteers. We really could do with more help both outside on the yard and inside the office. There is the regular routine of feeding, mucking out and grooming, there are horses to exercise for those who can ride and the office could do with some nice competent person who could put some systems in place to aid the work being done in it! If you have a spare hour, day, week, whatever, we would be delighted to hear from you.
