Some years ago we were approached by the wife of a football player who was desperately seeking a safe haven for her two goats Morris and Sutty, fans of the opposing town team were hurling missiles at them just for the fun of it.
These two castrated male Saanen goats had been hand reared by the family and were much loved by them so of course we had to offer sanctuary to them. They both lived happily with us for some years but unfortunately Sutty started to deteriorate in health and an examination by our vets revealed a cancerous tumour and Sutty had to be put to sleep.

We were very worried that Morris would pine and go into a decline himself but although he was sad for a week or two he remained healthy and eventually accepted another goat, Twiggy, into his pen to live with him. Morris has the most adorable nature and will give you kisses, we call him our unicorn because he has a little horn on the top of his head, we are not allowed to touch it though he has himself on occasion knocked it off against something, it always grows back though.
He is a helpful goat who empties wheelbarrows for us, usually all over the yard.
