We do not know much of Gemma’s past life
What we do know is that Gemma belonged to an elderly lady who died and she was foisted onto one of our committee members who, having no goats of her own, passed Gemma on to us in order for her to have the company of her own kind.
At the time of writing (July 2011) Gemma has not been with us very long but she has certainly made her presence known, we call her old bossy boots because she does her utmost to boss the other goats around and humans too if she feels she can get away with it.
She must have been a milker at one point as she sometimes “bags up”, at one point when her udders were full she also put on a lot of weight and we thought we were going to have a baby goat on the premises but, rather to our disappointment, nothing happened and it won’t now as all our males are castrated.
We have no idea of Gemma’s breeding, she is a right mixture.
