Beau is a 16.2 hand high Thoroughbred cross Warmblood chestnut mare, she is a gentle giant. We do not know how old she is but guess her to be in her early twenties. Mossburn was contacted by Beau’s previous owner and asked to take her on as she could not longer afford to keep her but we were full at the time and could not take her. However we had two local young women on our books desperate for a horse to lightly hack out on so I pointed them in Beau’s direction under the strict understanding that they did not take her unless they intended keeping her, six months later Beau was delivered to our doorstep!
We use the permanent resident horses here for our Equine Assisted Psychotherapy work and as we generally work with children we keep smaller horses but as Murphy’s law would have it the very next young person along, a small male, chose Beau as the horse he wanted to work with, we were amazed at the way this large horse matched her stride to that of the young person roughly about halving her usual stride. Beau is a very kind, giving horse and we consider ourselves privileged to have her.
