Rhubarb arrived here in October 2016 a neutered male rabbit who had found his way from London to New Galloway and thereafter to us. He was a much loved London rabbit but did not consider the environment there healthy for him and requested a relocation! As our rabbit Chaos’ friend Bugsy had just died it was decided to try Rhubarb in with her and they got on very well for a few weeks until Chaos, an elderly lady, sadly had a stroke and passed away. Needless to say Rhubarb was upset at losing his new found friend so we took Daisy rabbit (who lived with some guinea pigs) and popped her in beside him. You never know with rabbits if this is going to work or not, but in this case both rabbits were so pleased with each other that Daisy was renamed Custard in order to become a proper pair with Rhubarb! Rhubarb’s London owners have been to visit him and are very pleased to see him happily ensconced on his countryside estate!
Custard came to us in March 2015, she was a house rabbit and much loved by her owner but the poor lady was suffering from an arthritic condition that was getting progressively worse and bending down to clean out and to give her cuddles was getting more difficult by the day. Custard took to life in a large open run along with lady guinea pigs quite happily though we had to keep a close eye on her at first due to her being used to living indoors, however her new environment did her no harm. She is a pretty rabbit being a Lionhead cross and is friendly having been handled so much in the past.
