Farley the goat has been waiting to come here for quite a long time but he has been filming and was needed on set longer than expected. While he was on set one of the crew from America fell in love with him and was appalled to hear that once Farley’s filming life was over he would be sold and, as a young castrated male goat, there was, in all probability, only one place he would have ended up! So his fan bought him then asked the man in charge of the animals on set where he could send him to ensure he spent the rest of his life as a happy, free goat. Our name was supplied and of course we had to take him!! We are so pleased we did. Farley, breed unknown but tending towards the Alpine, is the sweetest natured little goat you could wish to meet, he loves everybody and everybody loves him. He was excited when he arrived here earlier this month (October 2014) to meet up with so many other goats and to have freedom of movement, he settled into the herd immediately holding his own with those few who tried to bully him a bit. The only downside to his arrival being that there was only one space in the goat byre and that was in with Maple and Horace and Maple was adamant that she and Horace were NOT sharing their large pen so Farley had to go into a free pen in a barn inhabited by pigs. He still hates going to bed and being separated from his fellows but until a space becomes vacant in the goat byre it is the best we can do for him. He is okay once supper arrives and having eaten settles to sleep in preparation for the amusements of the following day. His “dad” in the States keeps in regular touch as do his family and friends!!
