Bilbo arrived with us in 2012 having lost his companion and while depressed at being on his own, took an allergic reaction to the rhododendrons surrounding his home. His head was a mass of weeping sores and unfortunately for him, the vets recommended that he be washed down with salt water – unpleasant but effective! Our sheep-goat Annabel advised Bilbo on his arrival
that it was far better to be a goat than a sheep because you got to live inside and have two regular meals a day, and as it was easier for us to administer to his sores we allowed him a place in the goat byre where he has remained to this day, the sad loss of Morris, one of our goats, freeing up a double pen that Bilbo moved into along with Annabel. Bilbo is a large cheviot cross castrated
male sheep with a very friendly disposition and he and Annabel are very popular with all our visitors, especially children who have never been able to touch a sheep before.
